Planning to use tinted film on your car windows? You must know these rules

Tinted film on car windshields and windows is commonly used in India to protect against the sun’s UV rays, reduce cabin heat, and prevent interior damage. While some automakers offer tinted glass, many consumers opt for aftermarket tinted film. However, there have been legal issues regarding the level of visibility allowed through tinted film. According to the law, front and rear windshields must have 70% visibility, and side windows must have 50% visibility. Recent amendments permit the use of safety glazing with tinted film, as long as it meets transparency norms. Despite some confusion, the use of tinted film on cars is legal if it complies with regulations.
