Delhi chokes amid rising air pollution, AQI crosses 400 at…



The Air Quality Index (AQI) in Anand Vihar area of Delhi crossed the 400 mark, categorized as ‘severe’, worse than the previous day. The thick smog has enveloped the city, making it difficult for residents to breathe. Visitors and cyclists are facing breathing problems due to the increasing pollution levels. The government’s measures like odd-even and stopping construction don’t seem effective enough. The Delhi government has banned firecrackers till January 1 to curb pollution levels. Toxic foam in the Yamuna river continues to be a concern. The BJP and AAP are engaged in a political debate over the pollution crisis. Delhi environment minister Gopal Rai criticized the BJP for contributing to the pollution issue. The air quality index ranges from ‘good’ to ‘severe’, with the current situation being categorized as ‘severe’.
