The Department of Homeland Security confirmed that a number of Indian nationals were deported from the U.S. for illegally staying in the country. The DHS conducted operations through U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement to reduce irregular migration and counter human smuggling. Since June 2024, encounters along the southwest border have decreased by 55% due to enforcement efforts. The DHS removed over 160,000 individuals and operated international repatriation flights to various countries, including India. The Ministry of External Affairs in India conducts outreach activities to raise awareness of safe and legal migration and organizes Pre-Departure Orientation & Training for migrant workers.
