The US Department of Homeland Security deported Indian immigrants who were illegally residing in the country as part of efforts to deter irregular migration. The Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security emphasized that those without legal status will be swiftly removed, and the department will continue to enforce the nation’s laws. The exact number of Indians repatriated has not been disclosed. Since June 2024, over 160,000 individuals have been removed or returned, and more than 495 international repatriation flights have been operated to over 145 countries. Encounters along the southwest border have decreased by 55% since new border security measures were put in place.
