Husband held for allegedly stealing woman’s jewellery

A man named Ananthu from Neyyattinkara was arrested by Varkala police for allegedly stealing his wife’s gold ornaments just three days after their wedding. The wedding took place during the COVID-19 pandemic, and Ananthu had reportedly demanded more dowry and mentally harassed his wife in the first two days. He then took the jewellery under the guise of keeping it safe in a bank locker, but instead pawned it for money and disappeared. After a search operation, he was found in Thrissur and brought to court where he was remanded.
