The Election Commission of India has appointed Pranabjyoti Nath as the new Chief Electoral Officer of Kerala. Nath, a 2005 batch IAS officer, will also serve as the Secretary of the Election Department. He currently holds the position of secretary in the Sports and Youth Affairs Department. His appointment comes just before the upcoming byelections in November for the Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency and the Palakkad and Chelakkara Assembly constituencies. Nath takes over from Sanjay Kaul in his new role.
