Climate activist Sonam Wangchuk is optimistic about the upcoming talks with the Union Government on December 3 regarding the autonomy of Ladakh. He had embarked on a long march to Delhi in September, demanding Ladakh’s inclusion under the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution. After being detained and launching a hunger strike, he called it off upon being promised that talks would resume. Despite facing challenges, Wangchuk remains determined and hopeful for a positive outcome from the discussions. His supporters, including students and volunteers, stand by him in his quest for the rights of the people of Ladakh. They emphasize that their agitation is not anti-national but rather a patriotic fight for their community’s recognition and respect.
