There seems to be some tension within Kerala’s ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF) over the replacement of Forest Minister A.K. Saseendran with Thomas K. Thomas. Revolutionary Socialist Party (RSP-Leninist) leader Kovoor Kunjumon revealed some alleged secret rumblings within the LDF, suggesting a political cause for the delay in Thomas’s induction into the Cabinet. There are reports of Thomas allegedly trying to persuade LDF legislators to align with the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP-Ajit Pawar faction), a BJP ally in Maharashtra. This controversy has also raised questions about the LDF’s relationship with the BJP-led alliance. Thomas denies any wrongdoing and blames Antony Raju for the controversy. President Droupadi Murumu’s mysterious vote and Independent legislator P.V. Anvar’s threat to reveal the name of the MLA who crossed voted for the BJP’s presidential candidate have also added to the drama. Leader of the Opposition V.D. Satheesan is calling for Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan to address these revelations.
