The Madhya Pradesh High Court has ordered the State police to install CCTV cameras with audio recording in every room of all police stations within the next three months. This decision came after a case of police brutality where a man was allegedly beaten in a room without CCTV coverage. The court also imposed penalties on the accused police personnel and ordered their transfer to locations over 900 km away to prevent collusion. The court criticized the police department for protecting wrongdoers and ordered a criminal case against a doctor who provided a false medical report. The Director General of Police has been directed to ensure compliance with the court’s orders.
