Micro-Level Weather Forecasting At Panchayat Level: Modi Govt’s Initiative To Boost Agriculture, Disaster Preparedness

The Modi government is introducing micro-level weather forecasting stations at the panchayat level to provide real-time, localized data to empower farmers. This initiative, a collaboration between the IMD and Panchayati Raj Ministry, aims to revolutionize rural agriculture by offering precise weather insights. The weather equipment will be installed across 200,000 panchayats, with updates available on the e-‘Gramswaraj’ app. This initiative will help farmers optimize crop cycles, irrigation, and pest control, reduce crop damage, and improve income stability. It will also enhance disaster management and strengthen rural infrastructure planning, making it a key component of India’s climate resilience efforts.
