The Congress party has decided not to contest the upcoming bypolls in Uttar Pradesh and will instead support joint candidates of the opposition INDIA bloc and Samajwadi Party. This decision came after the Samajwadi Party announced that its partners would contest on the SP’s symbol. The Congress is focusing on a broader seat-sharing arrangement that also includes the upcoming Maharashtra assembly elections. Despite initial disagreements over seat allocations, both parties are united in their efforts to defeat the BJP and ensure a big victory. The bypolls are scheduled for November 13, with the SP announcing candidates for seven out of nine seats so far.
