Kudumbashree’s ‘Kanas Jaga’ to feature short films by tribal children, book releases

A festival showcasing short films made by children from tribal communities, along with the release of books written by children, and a teachers’ meet, will take place in Kochi, Kerala on October 26 and 27 as part of Kudumbashree’s Kanas Jaga program. The aim of Kanas Jaga is to help indigenous children excel in various fields and raise awareness about their surroundings, climate change, children’s rights, and empowerment. The program focuses on holistic development including education, healthcare, cultural protection, and financial empowerment. The short film festival will feature films made by children addressing pressing issues and their proposed solutions. Additionally, nine books written by Kanas Jaga group children will be launched during the event. Over 3,000 children in 100 batches have been trained in filmmaking, with each group creating their own short film. The event will be attended by UN representatives and delegates from Talent Book of World Records.
