Chennai: Ashok Leyland Bags Order For 500 Electric Buses For Public Transport

Ashok Leyland’s subsidiary OHM Global Mobility has secured an order for 500 ultra-low floor electric buses from the Metropolitan Transport Corporation in Chennai. These buses can accommodate 37 seated passengers and 24 standing passengers, with a range of over 200 kilometers on a single charge. The contract includes both non-AC and AC buses to ensure passenger comfort. Switch Mobility, another Ashok Leyland subsidiary, will supply the buses, while OHM will operate and maintain them for 12 years. This partnership reflects Ashok Leyland’s commitment to promoting cleaner and more efficient transport systems through electric mobility.
