Thattil appointed member of Dicastery for Eastern Churches

Raphael Thattil, Major Archbishop of the Syro-Malabar Church, has been appointed as a member of the Dicastery for the Eastern Churches by Pope Francis. This means he will help the Pope make decisions about eastern rite churches that are in communion with Rome. Archbishop Thattil is one of ten members from around the world who have been appointed to the Dicastery. The Church in Kochi announced this news, stating that the appointment shows the Pope’s care for the Church. The prefect of the Dicastery is Italian Cardinal Claudio Gugerotti.
