Turkey launches airstrikes in Iraq and Syria following ‘terror attack’ on aerospace firm

Turkey’s air force conducted strikes on Kurdish militant targets in Iraq and Syria after an attack on TUSAS headquarters left five dead and over a dozen injured. The defense ministry reported that more than 30 targets were destroyed and two terrorists were neutralized. President Erdogan condemned the attack as a “heinous terrorist attack.” The assailants, armed with assault rifles and backpacks, caused a fire at the facility in Kahramankazan. There was initial confusion about a possible hostage situation and gunshots. The attack coincided with a defense and aerospace trade fair in Istanbul. TUSAS is a key player in Turkey’s defense and aviation industry.
