Valenzuela, famous for his windup and screwball pitch, spent 11 seasons with the Dodgers, leading them to a World Series title in 1981. His rookie season in 1981 was legendary, winning both Rookie of the Year and Cy Young Awards. MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred praised Valenzuela’s impact on the game and announced plans to honor him during the 2024 World Series. Valenzuela will be remembered as an outstanding ambassador for baseball and a beloved figure in both the U.S. and Mexico.
