Bengaluru Flood Crisis: Deputy CM DK Shivakumar Criticized for Absent Leadership | Bengaluru News

Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar faced criticism for being absent during Bengaluru’s severe waterlogging and flooding crisis. Opposition parties accused him of prioritizing large-scale projects over basic infrastructure needs. Critics called for immediate action on clearing stormwater drains and managing flood-prone areas. Some MPs questioned the feasibility of Shivakumar’s ambitious plans and accused him of neglecting the rain crisis in favor of political priorities. Shivakumar defended his absence, stating that he did not want to distract relief teams on the ground. The government assured that they were closely monitoring the situation and providing relief efforts. IT-BT Minister Priyank Kharge attributed the flooding to unprecedented rainfall, comparing it to challenges faced by other global cities.
