Congress is considering not contesting any of the nine assembly seats up for by-polls in Uttar Pradesh, as part of a broader seat-sharing arrangement with the Samajwadi Party. While talks are ongoing, Congress may choose to support SP on all seats in UP. This decision comes after SP announced candidates for seven seats, leaving Congress with only two, despite their request for five. In Maharashtra, SP hopes to contest 12 seats. The final decision on seat-sharing will be made by party higher-ups. The by-polls are scheduled for November 13, with SP announcing candidates for seven seats.
