Navy confirms death of crew after jet crashes near Mount Rainier in Washington



U.S. Naval officials confirmed that the two crew members of a Navy jet that crashed near Mount Rainier in Washington were found and declared dead. The EA-18G Growler jet crashed on a mountainside, and the crew members were located in a remote, heavily wooded area. Army Special Forces soldiers trained in mountain rescue assisted with the search efforts. The Navy shifted from search and rescue to recovery operations, and the identities of the crew members will be withheld until next of kin are notified. The investigation into the crash is ongoing, and each EA-18G jet costs $67 million.
