In a recent judgment, the Gujarat high court ruled that the experience of contractual or fixed pay employees can be considered valid administrative experience for regular jobs. The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) was ordered to appoint 12 candidates who had been fighting for their rights for five years. These candidates had applied for clerical and office superintendent posts in 2015 but were rejected by AMC in 2019 for not meeting the experience criteria. The HC criticized AMC for not informing the candidates about this objection earlier and ordered the corporation to appoint them within eight weeks.
