Seven believed dead after gangway collapses in Georgia



A gangway at a ferry dock on Sapelo Island, Georgia collapsed, causing at least seven people to be believed dead and many others injured. The Georgia Department of Natural Resources, U.S. Coast Guard, and other agencies responded to the incident, conducting search and rescue missions. The Coast Guard is still actively searching for survivors. The collapse occurred during a celebration of Gullah Geechee culture on the island. President Joe Biden and Georgia Governor Brian Kemp expressed condolences and offered federal resources. The incident is under investigation, and the community is asking for prayers for those affected by the tragedy.
