Two more people have died in Bihar after consuming spurious liquor, bringing the death toll to 37. The victims were from Baikunthpur in Gopalganj district. The opposition RJD has criticized the state government’s liquor ban, claiming it has led to a parallel illegal economy. Leader Tejashwi Yadav pointed out that despite the ban, more people drink alcohol in Bihar than in states without prohibition. He also highlighted the high number of arrests and raids related to illegal alcohol, suggesting that the ban has not been effective in curbing the problem.
