Gaurav Gupta, Chief Growth Officer of JSW MG Motor India, discussed the company’s initiatives to address key challenges for EV customers, such as charging infrastructure, battery security, and resale value. The Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) program aims to reduce upfront costs by offering a subscription-based model for the battery. While BaaS has seen a slow start, Gupta believes it will eventually gain widespread acceptance, similar to car loans. MG is confident in the prospects of BaaS, as it allows for more affordable ownership of EVs and price parity with internal combustion engine vehicles. The company has extended the program to other EV models and hopes to increase awareness and adoption in the market.
