Former MP N.N. Krishnadas welcomed P. Sarin at the Communist Party of India (Marxist) District Committee office in Palakkad. Sarin, the Left Democratic Front candidate in the Palakkad Assembly constituency, met with senior leaders and expressed his support for the party. He indicated that he might choose an autorickshaw or helmet as his poll symbol. Sarin stated that he had already become a comrade and would fight against the BJP. The CPI(M) district secretariat decided to field Sarin as an Independent candidate, expecting to garner Congress votes. Sarin will begin his campaign with a roadshow. BJP criticized Sarin’s candidature, but Sarin challenged their claims.
