State troopers, NYPD descend on AOC’s ‘Red Light’ neighborhood to tackle crime

Join Fox News for free access to premium content including articles about New York state troopers helping clean up a crime-infested strip in Queens, part of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s district. The area is plagued by prostitution, illegal vendors, and robberies, prompting a crackdown called “Operation Restore Roosevelt.” The operation aims to restore law and order to the area, known as a red-light district with scantily dressed migrant prostitutes soliciting sex openly. Residents have been calling for cleanup for years, and the increased police presence is welcomed by the community. The area has seen a rise in criminal activity due to a lack of police enforcement and support. Residents in Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s district are concerned about the rampant illegal prostitution happening on the streets, with brothels being raided but few arrests leading to prosecution. Police recently raided a suspected brothel in the area, arresting three women, but the same location had been raided previously with no lasting impact. The district is filled with migrant prostitutes offering their services 24/7, with some even being involved in sex trafficking. Rep. Cortez has yet to respond to inquiries about the situation, but Rep. Grace Meng is grateful for efforts to combat the illegal activities in the neighborhood.
