In the winter of 2023-2024, archaeologists from the Archeodunum Research Center were called to a home in a Paris suburb after a homeowner found a skeleton in his basement. This led to a monthslong excavation that uncovered 38 burials across four rooms, dating back from the third century A.D. to the 10th century. The graves were older than expected, revealing evolving funeral practices over time. The findings shed light on the history of the area and specialists hope to learn more about the individuals buried there. This unexpected discovery turned a home renovation into a significant archaeological excavation.
