U.S. conducts new airstrikes on Houthi targets in Yemen with B-2 bombers

The U.S. military conducted airstrikes on Houthi weapons storage facilities in Yemen using B-2 stealth bombers. This operation targeted underground facilities housing weapons used in attacks on civilian and military vessels. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin authorized the strikes at President Biden’s direction. The U.S. Central Command highlighted the global strike capabilities demonstrated by the B-2 bombers. These airstrikes are part of a series of retaliatory attacks against the Iran-backed Houthi militant group for their missile attacks on vessels in the Red Sea. The escalation of attacks has caused disruptions to international commerce and put civilian and military lives at risk. The Biden administration has designated the Houthis as a global terrorist group.
