The National Law School of India University (NLSIU) in Bengaluru is considering increasing the number of seats reserved for Karnataka students, meeting a demand from the state government. Currently, there is a 25% reservation for Karnataka students, but the government is seeking an increase. The university is facing a space crunch and has been waitlisting local students for hostel accommodations. The Bangalore University syndicate has approved leasing seven acres of land to NLSIU, with conditions including increasing the domicile reservation to 50%. The university will inform the state government of the syndicate’s decision, leaving it up to the government to accept the recommendations.
