Anil Desai of Shiv Sena (UBT) won a victory in the Bombay High Court as a petition challenging his election as Lok Sabha MP from Mumbai South Central was dismissed. The petition lacked substantial evidence of any wrongdoing that would violate citizens’ right to know the truth about the candidate. The petitioner, Mahendra Bhingardive, claimed Desai’s nomination papers had defects, but the court ruled in Desai’s favor. Desai’s application for dismissal of the petition was supported by his legal team, who argued that the alleged defects were not of a significant nature.
