North Korea blows up parts of inter-Korean roads as tensions with South Korea soar

North Korea has blown up parts of inter-Korean roads that are no longer in use, escalating tensions with South Korea. This comes after North Korea accused South Korea of flying drones over its capital, Pyongyang. North Korea’s leader, Kim Jong Un, has called for immediate military action and the strengthening of their “war deterrent.” South Korea has not confirmed sending drones but has warned of stern punishment if its citizens’ safety is threatened. This move by North Korea is seen as a further push to cut off ties with South Korea and solidify it as their main enemy. The two Koreas had previously reconnected roads and rail tracks, but operations were suspended due to disputes over North Korea’s nuclear program. North Korea has now permanently blocked its border with South Korea and added defensive structures in response to what they call “confrontational hysteria.”
