Delay in maintenance works hits pollution monitoring on Eloor-Edayar stretch of Periyar

The pollution monitoring facilities of the Kerala State Pollution Control Board along the Eloor-Edayar stretch of the Periyar are facing issues due to delayed annual maintenance. The real-time ambient air quality monitoring and display board at the FACT junction are not functioning properly. The water quality monitoring unit at Pathalam has also been affected. PCB officials have highlighted that the delay in maintenance has impacted the systems’ smooth functioning and are waiting for a decision on the renewal of the maintenance contract. The necessary repairs and maintenance work are crucial to ensure accurate monitoring of air and water quality levels for public information and tracking variations.
