North India logs its best monsoon in 11 years | India News – Times of India



This year’s monsoon in north India has been the wettest in 11 years, with 628mm of rainfall recorded from June to September, the highest since 2013. Overall, the country has seen normal to above-normal rainfall for the sixth year in a row. Central India received the highest surplus rainfall, while the East & Northeast region experienced a deficit. Despite the absence of expected weather patterns like La Nina and a ‘positive dipole’, other factors contributed to the good rainfall. The late September rains in Uttar Pradesh are promising for soil moisture for upcoming crops.
