An earthquake measuring 4.2 on the Richter scale hit north-central Assam on Sunday morning. The tremor occurred at 7.47 am in Udalguri district, with its epicenter at a depth of 15 km. Residents in nearby districts felt the quake, and areas on the southern bank of the Brahmaputra River also experienced tremors. The impact extended to parts of western Arunachal Pradesh and eastern Bhutan. No major damage has been reported so far.
