Over 47,000 complaints filed with NCSC since 2020; caste atrocity, land disputes among main issues

Over the past four years, the National Commission for Scheduled Castes has received over 47,000 complaints, with the main issues being atrocities against Dalits, land disputes, and problems related to government jobs. The chairperson, Kishor Makwana, is working to address these complaints quickly by visiting state offices and holding regular hearings to listen to people’s problems. The majority of complaints are from Uttar Pradesh, and the commission is actively working to resolve them. A national helpline has also received a large number of calls, with most coming from Uttar Pradesh. The government report shows that the majority of atrocities against Scheduled Castes occur in 13 states, with Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh having the highest number of cases.
