A U.S. Army soldier named Cole Bridges has been sentenced to 14 years in prison after pleading guilty to attempting to assist the Islamic State terror group in ambushing his fellow soldiers in the Middle East. Bridges expressed remorse for his actions and admitted to providing training and guidance to purported ISIS fighters. Despite Bridges showing signs of remorse and not seeking materials from other soldiers, the judge handed down a 14-year sentence to deter other members of the armed forces from similar actions. Bridges’ attorney argued for leniency, stating that he was lured into the plot by undercover U.S. law enforcement agents.
