Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan is in a dispute with Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan over the handling of gold smuggling and hawala racketeering proceeds. Khan accuses Vijayan of keeping him in the dark and preventing officials from briefing him on the matter. Khan believes it is his duty to report such issues to the President of India. The lack of information has hindered Khan from taking action, as the government’s responses have been delayed and inadequate. Despite disagreements, Khan eventually signed an ordinance proposed by Vijayan’s officials, but holds the government responsible for any legal discrepancies.
