Altaf, a 50-year-old mechanic from Karnataka, won ₹25 crore in the Thiruvonam bumper lottery. He arrived at the Kalpetta branch of SBI to present the winning ticket. He purchased the ticket from a lottery sub-agency in Sulthan Bathery. Altaf expressed his gratitude and credited his win to divine blessings. He had been buying tickets for 15 years and this was his first win. His relatives initially didn’t believe him but accepted after seeing the ticket number on TV. He has a wife and two children. Altaf returned to complete formalities to open an account, with more to follow in the coming days.
