Fighting bad air: Central govt set to roll out ‘e-detection’ system for old polluting vehicles entering Delhi | Delhi News

The central government is planning to launch an online system to detect diesel and petrol vehicles older than 10 and 15 years on Delhi roads without valid fitness and pollution certificates. This system, called “e-detection,” will automatically generate e-challans for such vehicles, making it difficult for old polluting vehicles from other states to enter Delhi. The system will capture details from FASTags at toll plazas and match them with the Vahan database to identify violators. This initiative aims to improve air quality in Delhi and will be gradually implemented nationwide to enforce transport and traffic rules effectively.
