The Maharashtra government has introduced a new policy allowing schools to screen up to three movies or short films per academic year, with two of them being in Marathi. This decision was made in response to requests from education officials who believe that films can impact the academic calendar. The content screened must have historical, social, and cultural messages and be appropriate for all students. The state education commissioner will grant permission for screenings, which will be valid for one academic year. The policy does not mention if students will be charged to watch the films. Some recent films permitted for screening include ‘Ravrambha’ and ‘Let’s Change’.
