Crisis in Kerala’s Kaniv 108 Ambulance Service: ₹100 Crore in Arrears | Thiruvananthapuram News

The state government in Thiruvananthapuram has not paid the operational costs to EMRI Green Health Services for the Kaniv 108 ambulance chain since December last year, resulting in arrears of ₹100 crore. This has impacted the payment of salaries for the ambulance network’s employees. Financial difficulties faced by the state government and delays in receiving the central government’s share under the National Health Mission are cited as reasons for the outstanding payments. The contract with the company to operate the ambulance service expired in May and has not been renewed, leading to concerns about the future of the programme. Worker unions have protested against the delayed payments, and the company has stated that it may not be able to pay employees’ salaries for September.
