Ernakulam Rural police’s petitioner reach-out programme covers over 25,000 people

The Ernakulam Rural police have launched a new initiative called ‘Urappu’ to reach out to petitioners for feedback and ratings. The programme has been successful in reaching over 25,000 petitioners in just six months. A team of police personnel from the rural police headquarters contacts petitioners across all 34 police stations daily to gather feedback. The initiative was launched following a circular by State Police Chief Sheikh Darvesh Sahib. The feedback helps in monitoring the progress of the system and ensures accountability. Petitioners are spared from the hassle of visiting higher authorities if they are not satisfied with the response from the police station. The programme has been effective in improving police-citizen interaction and ensuring better service delivery.
