The first phase of polling for the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections has been completed, with the second phase scheduled for September 25. A report from the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) and Jammu & Kashmir Election Watch reveals that almost half of the candidates are crorepatis, with an average asset value of Rs 3.65 crore. The richest candidate is Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari, while the poorest is BJP’s Ravinder Raina. The report also highlights that 152 candidates have declared criminal cases against themselves, including cases related to crimes against women. Only five percent of the candidates are female, despite women making up a significant portion of the voters. The third and final phase of polling will take place on October 1, with vote counting on October 8.
