Cholliyattom, a group of young Koodiyattom artists in Kerala, has grown from a small initiative during the pandemic to a platform where different styles of Koodiyattom come together to preserve and share knowledge about this ancient art form. They recently organized Natya Yauvanam-2024 festival to showcase different Koodiyattom traditions. The collective aims to keep these traditions alive and pass them on to future generations. Each Koodiyattom style has its unique nuances and vocabulary, making it important for the audience to understand the intricacies of the art. Through outreach programs, Cholliyattom is bringing together artists from diverse backgrounds to promote and preserve Koodiyattom. This traditional Sanskrit theatre form, recognized by UNESCO, is still working to gain popularity like Kathakali in Kerala.
