Malaysia arrests over 300 people in child abuse probe

Malaysian authorities have arrested over 300 individuals in connection with child abuse allegations at care homes run by the Global Ikhwan Service and Business (GISB) group, a religious conglomerate with ties to the banned Al-Arqam sect. The arrests follow raids on various premises, including charity homes and religious schools, leading to the rescue of more than 400 children. The investigation revealed cases of sexual abuse, sparking concerns about child welfare in care facilities and the regulation of charitable organizations in Malaysia. GISB initially denied the allegations but later acknowledged isolated incidents of abuse. Religious authorities are closely monitoring GISB’s activities, and police continue to investigate the case.
