How plastic pollution poses challenge for Canada marine conservation – Times of India



Canada is one of the largest producers of plastic waste per capita, with a significant amount ending up in landfills, incinerated, or in the environment. To combat this issue, the federal government has banned six types of single-use plastics and aims to achieve zero plastic waste by 2030. Several municipalities have also implemented bans on certain single-use plastics. Efforts are being made to hold manufacturers accountable through a federal plastics registry. However, more measures are needed to protect marine protected areas from plastic pollution. Behavior change and the use of biodegradable utensils are steps in the right direction to reduce the impact of plastic waste on the environment.
