Alec Baldwin urges judge to stand by dismissal of involuntary manslaughter case in 2021

Alec Baldwin is asking a judge in New Mexico to uphold her decision to dismiss an involuntary manslaughter charge against him in the fatal shooting of a cinematographer on the set of the movie “Rust.” The judge dismissed the case halfway through the trial due to evidence being withheld by law enforcement and prosecutors. Baldwin’s lawyers argued that crucial evidence was buried, leading to the dismissal of the case. The armorer on set was convicted of involuntary manslaughter for flouting safety protocols, while another crew member received probation for negligent weapon use. Baldwin maintains that he did not pull the trigger of the gun that killed the cinematographer.
