In Phase 1 of J&K Polling, Women Voters Outnumbered Men in Six Assemblies



In the recent elections in Jammu and Kashmir, 24 out of 90 assembly seats went for polls with a voter turnout of 61.38%. Women outnumbered men in voter turnout in six seats, with five from Jammu division and one from Kashmir. The highest voter turnout was reported in Inderwal and Padder-Nagseni, while the lowest was in Tral. Overall, male voters outnumbered women by about five percentage points. There were only 60 registered transgender voters in the UT, with 100% turnout in four seats. The next phases of elections will take place on September 25 and October 1, with counting on October 8.
