A group of Tufts University men’s lacrosse players have been diagnosed with a rare muscle injury called rhabdomyolysis after a supervised workout session. Five players are still in the hospital. The workout was led by a graduate who completed Navy SEAL training. Rhabdomyolysis occurs when muscles break down, usually due to excessive exercise. The university has postponed all team activities until everyone is evaluated and cleared by medical professionals. An external investigator will review the incident to ensure the safety of student-athletes. The university is still gathering information and cannot provide more details until the investigation is complete.
