The State Human Rights Commission in Thiruvananthapuram has directed the health department director to take immediate action to prevent patients from escaping from the Peroorkada mental health centre. Reports indicated that a significant number of patients had gone missing from the center in the past six years. The commission received conflicting numbers from the superintendent of the health center, but it was revealed that 87 patients are currently missing. The commission criticized the security measures at the center and emphasized the need for better supervision to prevent such incidents in the future. Efforts are being made to locate the missing patients.
