Commercial production of gas begins from OGDCL’s Sujawal well-1

The Oil & Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) has successfully started commercial production of tight gas at the Nur West Well-1 in Sindh. This achievement follows the introduction of the Tight Gas Policy 2024 by the government earlier this year, which offers incentives to encourage exploration and production of unconventional hydrocarbon reserves. OGDCL’s well is currently producing 1.5 MMSCFD of gas, which has been integrated into the national gas supply network. The company used hydraulic fracturing to make the well viable for production. Tight gas refers to natural gas extracted from rocks with low permeability, requiring hydraulic fracturing for extraction.
